Maeby Baby

It never gets old

July 13, 2009 · 1 Comment

I have another great primary quote to share. These kids are so adorable. Though at times they can be a little challenging. If you don’t bring a treat you’re in big trouble. If you do bring a treat you better have plenty. They’re favorite is question is, “Can I have some more?”. They don’t like to color. Though they find it fascinating when I draw whatever they ask me to.
A couple of weeks ago I was giving the lesson. I team teach with another girl in the ward and she was helping out in keeping them focused. The lesson was on families. I tried to bring in the fact that Jesus Christ had a family when he was born. I was holding a picture of Jesus in the manger with Joseph and Mary. I pointed to the baby and asked them who is this.  No one said anything. So I said, “Who was born in manger?” The other teacher leaned down to one of the children and whispered isn’t that Jesus. One of the boys looked at her and said, “I don’t know. They’re are a lot of Jesuses”  We couldn’t stop laughing. Lesson learned. Remember to clarify what Jesus your talking about when giving the lesson in primary.

No matter what I’ll always have it easier than Jennifer Aniston

July 11, 2009 · 1 Comment

Yeah know I like my life. Though sometimes reading this blog I’m sure it doesn’t come across that way. Being 29, single and living in Utah there always seems to be one question that I’m constantly asked, “Why aren’t you married?” I guess I’m suppose to have an answer for that question but I don’t. In Utah if you’re over 24 and single there must be something seriously wrong with you. The longer you stay unmarried people to start to worry. And why might ask.  A couple of weeks ago I was at a church function. A dear lady in my ward who I adore came up and started asking me how I was doing. We discussed the new ward change, her family, and our jobs. Than as usual I got the, “So any guys?” I just gave a quick one line answer hoping to switch to another subject. But she looked at me and said, “You know what. Don’t even think about it. Don’t worry about it. Just live your life and things will come into place. I don’t know why people seem to think you have to be married to happy.” I agree wholeheartedly.  And at least I’m not resorting to this yet.

Too busy

May 18, 2009 · 3 Comments

It’s amazing how you can go from nothing to do to completely busy in a month.  With work, trying to pack (only three four boxes done so far), cleaning, preparing sunday school lessons for four year olds, correcting a horrible dye job gone bad (will post pictures once I can find that pesky cable that connect my camera to this box) and trying to get in anything of leisure I’m sure tuckered out. Oh and also with a birthday just around the corner it just seems to be never ending. Ah the last year of my twenties. (I better start working on that bucket list) Seems like I just turned 21. Where did the time go? I promise to post a better subject when I have more free time. Until than I’m going to be sticking to my twitter. Far more easier and less time consuming when it’s limited to only 140 characters. The beauty of laziness. TTFN

Fail

May 2, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Does anyone else read Fail Blog? I won’t link it but I had a inclination to take a picture today to submit to their website. If you don’t know what the Fail Blog is its pictures, videos, articles, etc of things are fails or things that are just wrong. While I was taking pictures at a wedding reception this evening I happened to notice this couple that walked in the door. Now when I think of a wedding reception I think dress up. Not formal, but at least sunday best or a skirt/nice slacks. Looking at this couple the wife was at least decent but the husband was all kinds of wrong. Blue jeans with sneakers and to top it off a t-shirt of a stick figure holding a sign that said “Free Gas” while farting. Come on you couldn’t have put on a better shirt? I didn’t take his picture, but it was tempting.

This past weekend

April 30, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Okay I’m a little late in posting about this but I couldn’t get the photos off of my camera till yesterday. Sooo a couple of weeks ago I was asked by a friend in my ward to take photos for her at an AYSO function. Yeah no problem.  Now I’m thinking, “I can do this. Just kids playing soccer.” Than as it kept getting closer to the date I kept freaking out, “Haven’t used my SLR camera in a really long time. Do I remember how to use it? What if I screw up?” I just kept having these terrible thoughts come through my head. Luckily the night before I decided to go through all of my equipment to make sure everything was charged and ready to go. When I turned on the camera I got a big NO CF CARD. “What?! I know there is one in there.” So I check and sure enough no card. “Okay, I know it’s in the bag” Nope not there. I searched everywhere I could think of and no CF card. I know that one of my cards was never returned from taking pictures of the YW last year, but where the other went I don’t know. Good thing I found a 4mb card at Target for only $30. (Do you remember when a 1mb card cost like $85 or more? Crazy I tell you)
But everything went better than I expected. They threw a celebration for the AYSO region celebrating 30 years. It was really interesting to hear about how the region was started by one lady.
AYSO
SOCCER
SOCCER FIELD
Than later that evening I was asked to go to the Real game against New England Revolution to take pictures of the VIP kids playing soccer during halftime. the VIP kids are the handicap and disabled chidren. They were so adorable and fun to take pictures of.

REAL GAME 1
REAL GAME 2

REAL GAME 3
Everything went terrific. I think I took over 250 photos. The game was great. Real won 6-0. Some great goals. The new soccer stadium is awesome. If you’re able to attend a game I highly recommend it. This weekend I have a wedding reception to shoot. Lets hope that goes well as this did.

Home is where you can find one reasonably priced, accepting of dogs, in a decent area and with a really handy landlord

April 23, 2009 · 1 Comment

In case you didn’t know, which you probably didn’t, I have to find somewhere to live in the next 37 days or so. Moving is just no fun. This will be my third time moving in just two and a half years.  It would much easier to find somewhere to live for just myself, however I have a number of conditions that have to be met.
First off I have to find somewhere for myself and my brother.  My brother is dead set on finding a house to live in so that he can play his guitars up to level 11. That rules out any apartments or condos. Maybe a townhouse if it has a firewall between the units. Finding a 2 bedroom house in our price range is kind of tricky. I laughed today that I found a listing for a house that has 1 bedroom and 3 bathrooms. I really hope it was a typo.
Secondly I have to find somewhere that will accept pets. Even though I’m sure I can have my dog stay with my parents, I know that she looks forwarding to coming home with me every night to sleep in her bed. Also my brother wants to get a cat. We’ll have to see about that one. With any place that I’ve found that accepts pets they are either charging a ridiculous pet deposit that is non-refundable or else asking for pet rent. Either way you’re paying an arm and a leg to have your four legged friend to be able to live with you.
Next on my list is area. Now I don’t want to live too far north, west or south. I hate traffic and don’t want to spend too much on gas. With where my brother and I work that leaves us just a couple neighborhoods to look at it. Again with our price range it makes it further discouraging to find anything.
One thing I want to be sure of is a landlord who will actually come through on making repairs. We’ve had nothing but problems in the house that we live in. Probably four or so months after we moved we had a small flood in the basement. Instead of him coming to repair it or even calling someone to take care of it, he asked us to fix it. The toilet constantly overflows. The sprinkler system doesn’t work. The water heater goes out all the time. All of these things have been reported to the landlord but yet none of them have been repaired. Ah!!! This makes me appreciate living in the crappy apartments I lived in before.
For awhile there I was thinking about purchasing a home or townhouse. I went to a party downtown that was being sponsored by a new housing complex a couple of weeks ago. Downtown it’s absurd what they’re asking for just a tiny space with not many extras. Come to find out near where I currently live someone built four new townhouses just down a ways. They’re not in a gated community or anything. Not very fancy. The asking price per month to rent is $2300. If you want to purchase it’s around $500,000.  Crazy what some people think their property is worth during this tough economic times.
I’m sure I’ll find something. Just keep looking online maybe go to a rental referral service. Though don’t be alarmed if I show up on your front porch with my bag and a doggie bowl.

Random Thoughts

April 22, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I done. Through with it. No more coloring my hair by myself. Most of the time it ends up okay, but the other day was horrific. Well I’m not covering my head with a paper bag so it can’t be that bad.  I’ve tried saving money by doing my hair myself and than prolonging the time between haircuts.  It’s kind of hard for me to justify spending $80 on a cut and color when I’m on a tight budget.  The last time I went to a salon the girl charged me $130. Crazy. I can see if I went to some high end salon, but this was a salon in a fitness gym.
The last box I bought was Loreal Excellence To-Go 10 minutes hair color. Worse mistake ever. You’re only suppose to have this color on your head 10 minutes max or else your end result is different than the box. If you’re like me you can’t even get the color on your head in five minutes. Especially with how long my hair is. I was racing to get the color on my hair evenly and saturated. The product is so thick it’s hard to get it through your hair. Unless you have short hair and are expertly trained at coloring hair I would stay away. Sorry I’m not posting any pictures. I don’t want to have further humiliate myself on the Internet.
So Happy Earth Day. I’m currently watching an imax movie The Living Sea. Incredible and yet scary. Here’s a bit of information about me….I’m afraid of the Sea/Ocean. Any large body of water actually. I can handle a lake or a pond, but if I can’t see where it starts and where it ends I don’t want to go near it. Freaks me out. I can recall when I was ten standing on the deck of the Queen Mary and looking out at the pacific ocean. My hands started to get sweaty and I wouldn’t go near the railing. I really can’t explain it. Just another weird thing about me.
So a couple of weeks ago my ward was split in half.  For me it really wasn’t a big deal. For some it was like the red sea hard parted and we would never be able to see each other ever again. I was sad because I was released of my primary calling. Ah man. The primary is the best place to be. We had an activity this past Saturday to get to know everyone in the ward. I got upset a fellow in our ward. His wife was suppose to give the lesson in primary last Sunday but became ill with pneumonia. When I saw him at the activity on Saturday I introduced myself and asked how his wife was doing. Instead of giving me an update on her condition he just said in a very rude tone, “She’s here you can ask her yourself.” I thought to myself sorry for being concerned about your wife’s condition and for bothering you about it. I just shook it off and moved right on to introducing myself to the next person. Overall though the activity was really fun. We played games and were able to learn a lot of random information about everyone. Change is good sometimes. We need to remind ourselves that.

The Sac

April 21, 2009 · 2 Comments

If you live in Utah you know about the LoveSac. For awhile there they were the big thing. You had to have a Lovesac and not just some beanbag. It had to be the Lovesac. Since then I’ve known they filed for bankruptcy (only to reconfigure their debt) and have closed some stores. But they’re still out there. I was one the fortunate individuals to jump on that Lovesac band wagon and oh what a comfy band wagon it is. I purchase the Supersac. Given I really wanted the Moviesac, you know the humongous ones in the movie theatre, but all I had room for was the Supersac. It’s relaxing to get home from work and just lay on this great big cushion. Feeling like you’re almost suspended by air. It’s the greatest thing since sliced bread. But you start to get annoyed at how you have to climb out of the thing to get up for a drink.  Than after awhile you only use it when you’re watching some movie late at night. Than your dogs start to take ownership of it and spend all day lounging on it. Yes that’s right I basically paid $400 for an over sized dog bed. If you think your dog is spoiled think again.
I really can’t tell you the last time I ever used the Lovesac. Other people have. Take for instance the other day my cousin McKenna was over and found it entertaining to jump up and down it while the dogs tried to lick her, “I’m having the funniest time.” I’m glad kid. Easiest babysitting I’ve ever done in awhile. It was cute to see this little tiny body floating on this giant ball of foam. Than she started to sink. Hilarious watching her try and climb out of the thing.
Recently my mother decided to buy a new cover for it. I had purchase a baseball cover probably five or so years ago. With all of the dogs using it throughout the years it was pretty beat. Not to mention my brother’s dog who decided to take a chunk of material out while she was chewing her Kong. Now looking on their website if you want to purchase a new cover prices range from $120 to $400. Pretty pricey. So I decided to look on Ebay. Low and behold I was able to win an auction on a super cute giraffe print for only $75.00. I love Ebay. Yesterday I received it in the mail. In opening the package I discovered she also shipped a purple swimsuit. Too bad purple doesn’t suit me well.  Today we put the new cover on. Poor Bosco didn’t want to get rid of the old one.

Old Cover

Bailey on the other hand was in heaven.

Watch where you put your ice

April 3, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Funny thing happened while I was over at my folks place. While eating dinner my aunt stopped by with her two kids and my other aunt to visit. Her two kids are adorable. Cutest kids. My father likes to play and tease little kids. He thought it would be funny to take a piece of ice from his drink and put it down Charlie’s pants. She giggles and immediately puts her hand down her pants to grab the ice that has been dropped her backside. This very clever child puts the piece of ice back in his drink. How great is that! We were all just laughing hysterically. She starts to giggle as well once she understand what she did wasn’t bad. Don’t underestimate a three year old. They’re smarter than you think.
