Home is where you can find one reasonably priced, accepting of dogs, in a decent area and with a really handy landlord

In case you didn’t know, which you probably didn’t, I have to find somewhere to live in the next 37 days or so. Moving is just no fun. This will be my third time moving in just two and a half years.  It would much easier to find somewhere to live for just myself, however I have a number of conditions that have to be met.
First off I have to find somewhere for myself and my brother.  My brother is dead set on finding a house to live in so that he can play his guitars up to level 11. That rules out any apartments or condos. Maybe a townhouse if it has a firewall between the units. Finding a 2 bedroom house in our price range is kind of tricky. I laughed today that I found a listing for a house that has 1 bedroom and 3 bathrooms. I really hope it was a typo.
Secondly I have to find somewhere that will accept pets. Even though I’m sure I can have my dog stay with my parents, I know that she looks forwarding to coming home with me every night to sleep in her bed. Also my brother wants to get a cat. We’ll have to see about that one. With any place that I’ve found that accepts pets they are either charging a ridiculous pet deposit that is non-refundable or else asking for pet rent. Either way you’re paying an arm and a leg to have your four legged friend to be able to live with you.
Next on my list is area. Now I don’t want to live too far north, west or south. I hate traffic and don’t want to spend too much on gas. With where my brother and I work that leaves us just a couple neighborhoods to look at it. Again with our price range it makes it further discouraging to find anything.
One thing I want to be sure of is a landlord who will actually come through on making repairs. We’ve had nothing but problems in the house that we live in. Probably four or so months after we moved we had a small flood in the basement. Instead of him coming to repair it or even calling someone to take care of it, he asked us to fix it. The toilet constantly overflows. The sprinkler system doesn’t work. The water heater goes out all the time. All of these things have been reported to the landlord but yet none of them have been repaired. Ah!!! This makes me appreciate living in the crappy apartments I lived in before.
For awhile there I was thinking about purchasing a home or townhouse. I went to a party downtown that was being sponsored by a new housing complex a couple of weeks ago. Downtown it’s absurd what they’re asking for just a tiny space with not many extras. Come to find out near where I currently live someone built four new townhouses just down a ways. They’re not in a gated community or anything. Not very fancy. The asking price per month to rent is $2300. If you want to purchase it’s around $500,000.  Crazy what some people think their property is worth during this tough economic times.
I’m sure I’ll find something. Just keep looking online maybe go to a rental referral service. Though don’t be alarmed if I show up on your front porch with my bag and a doggie bowl.

You are welcome to show up on my front porch with your bag and bailey…but pretty sure my front porch is not in the area you are looking for.
